Geo Allen (born February 10th, 1856) came to San Angelo, Texas, in 1883 and opened the first music store, at 107 Chadbourne, which sold pianos, organs, music, musical instruments and merchandise. Musically inclined, Mr. Allen was also the choir director for the First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo. Mrs. Allen was and artist and had a sister who was an opera singer. At the turn of the century, the Allen's built, what is now known as the Hartgrove House, at 418 W. Twohig. In the late 50's, the Pascal family bought the house from the Allen estate and in the late 60's, Johnson's Funeral home purchased the house from the Pascal family. In the early 70's, the Hargrove's bought the house from Johnson funeral home and moved it to the Hartgrove Ranch at Millersview, Texas, in the Concho County. You can see from the map below just how far this house will be traveling to rest in San Angelo in Old Town Historic District in El Paseo de Santa Angela.
